Over the easter break i have been watching Crossing Jordan.
The show stars Jill Hennesey as Jordan Cavanaugh. A young female detective working with a group of forensic scientists to find the truth and to catch the criminal.
As you can tell the show uses a female lead role to act as some sort of selling point, to make people think that females are powerful and not the typical cliche.
The show uses a running gimmick within the first season. Using the imagination of two characters (Jordan and Max aka her father) to try and figure out how the crime happend and who did this, how they did this etc...
Which shows that despite Jordan having to run a group of forensic scientists she keeps a tight bond with her family, we also see that her father must of had an infulence in becoming this strong female leader.
All in all in my opinon the show is very interesting with its mixup of csi with its forensic science and a mixup of any other crime drama with a female lead but this will not be recommed for all audiances. As they show is techinical and thereby will not favour towards the all guns blazzing fans.

Law and order
UK version of the long-running U.S. TV drama. Relevantly new british crime drama that follows the same format of the american version. Law and order tells the stories of two separate yet equally important groupsthe police, who investigate crime and (the group which are not comman to have main title roles in tv crime dramas) the attorneys, who prosecute the offenders. This show is similar to that of the ITV drama the jury. Helping the public gain a better knowladge and understanding of the behind the scene typical proffesionals. The show contains many lead characters( for example Bradley walsh as ronnie brooks to Harriet walter as Natalie chandler. ) And for those who like constant starsky and hutch like gun blazing you might want to turn away, this shows tempo is slow and ingages the brain more, you have been warned.

What i watched thursday. Sorry for late entry i saved it as a draft by mistake
I was excited waiting to watch a tv crime drama great. A show that was so good it almost had its own spinoff and a movie starring owen wilson and ben stiller. Yes, i am talking about the slick detective buddy crime drama that is starsky and hutch.
Two detectives(starksy=Paul Glaser and David soul as Huthc) investigate a double homicide they later discover that the man and women who died were mistakenly murdered - it was the detectives themselves who were the intended targets! This starting scene depicts that this is a fast paced crime drama, containing a open narrative. We know who commited these murders yet are detecetives dont have a clue, which worries them. Despite acting as tuff, cool, slick, careless they are awful at solving there own enigmas, the audiance need to find out the who did this or that themslefs as we watch these dimbwitted detectives struggle.

Luther as the anti hero
Luther is a perfect anti hero. He is bad yet always shines through in the end. Examples of how he is an anti hero include:
.He makes references to the devil and 666( mainly in the second episode ) for example hw he refers the medias number as 666.
. Despite seeming to not care about others, he cares for his one love, zoe.
. Always seems glun and depressing. Never in any form of mood except negative.
. Always throwning.
. Has care for right and wrong, yet let a criminal fall to what is beleved his death
. Cares for alice despite being a murdere.
. Very agrressive even with the ones he loves.

What i watched on sunday (Grimm)
Based on tails from popular story writiers the Grimm brothers, Grimm is a crime drama with (like its subheading) does not include your usuals subjects. David Giuntoli stars as nick. Are police detective with the ablity to see the supernatural.
Based in portland america. Nick along with his police crew must sought out the supernatural problems in the world.
This is not the only time the grimm brothers have been brought into the media limelight. They have also had a movie based on their tales of wonder and amazement. There tales feature remade classics changed and mixed up to potray an darker side to the typical lovey dovie hero comeing to the rescue like fantasy. With dark themes and low key lighting at times we see a whole new look on the drama. Turning happiness into a murder mystery fantasy... more generes then one.

Narrative
Opening teasers i have seen include Luther. For example the second epsisode we see two police members murdered before we cut to the actually show and title scene. Not only luther but shows like CSI show there death or scenes of major crime before we get developed into the show. These are used to keep the audiance ingaged and interested in what will happen next.
Examples of egnigmas include sherlock. Sherlock tends to want to play along with the killer. Find out this and that and is able to put his body obn the line to get the answer to his ever growing engima. E.G. in the first episode of luther we see that he is willing to play the taxi drivers games in order to find out what he wants( sadly he cannot find an answer as he dies due to being shot by watson, who is worried about sherocks lust for enimgas constantly.)
The quests of the key protagonists is simple. Their quests always lead to answers. Which is what they want(and to also bring the criminal to justice.) Sometimes they are ast tempo chase races whilst others for example luther are slow paced. These quests gain many tips and help along the way from various chase scenes, undercover work, forensic evdence gaining etc..
Mnay shows use open and close narratives. The ones with higher social grades(ABC1) tend to watch the shows with a closed narrrative so they can work it out for themselfs and be one step ahead of the characters. These shows include csi. We gain knowladge bit by bit but are red herrings leave us on multiple journeys which these people like to enjoy.
Shows that use open narratives are the ones who are watched by the lets say not so smart people(c2de)These shows do all the work for us. Like luther for example 14 mintes in a realise whos doen the crime, we just wait for him to get caught.
